Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez wants to raid Premier League side Everton this month, according to the Daily Mirror

The former Liverpool coach is understood to have cast keen eyes back over to Merseyside in an attempt to identify potential players who can help him win promotion with the Toon Army.

Toffees stars James McCarthy and Tom Cleverley are believed to have been the subject of overtures this month as the Spaniard looks to beef up a struggling midfield.

In the absence of Jonjo Shelvey, who is currently serving a five-game ban, the Magpies have lacked creativity and engine room reinforcements are surely the priority this winter.

The Goodison pair aren’t the only Premier League stars mentioned within the report though, with Bournemouth forward Calum Wilson and Manchester City ace Fabian Delph also reportedly of interest.

Brentford playmaker Alan Judge is another to be touted, though the Republic of Ireland man suffered a horrific injury last term and is waiting to hit top form.
