As Newcastle United desperately try and provide Rafa Benitez with reinforcements to supplement his title challenge in the January transfer window, the idea of bringing Andros Townsend back to the club seems like it’s becoming somewhat of a saga.
Still, the notion of seeing the England winger back in black and white doesn’t appear to be the only major theme of the Toon’s attempts to conduct big business in the New Year sales.
It seems ANOTHER move away from St. James’ Park has fallen flat on its face for midfielder Cheick Tiote, whose potential switch to La Liga side Sporting Gijon appears to have broken down after they brought in a new manager.
Having seen potential exits to Turkey and China fall at the final hurdle in the last 12 months or so, the 30-year-old Ivorian remains a Newcastle United player, much to the chagrin of many of the Geordie faithful on Twitter.
With that in mind, here’s how Twitter reacted.
The year is 2028. Cheick Tiote is still under contract at Newcastle and is still suffering transfer breakdowns at the last minute https://t.co/P5aEYVxqMS
