As revealed by Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder, Newcastle United remain locked in talks over two Premier League transfers, though their attempts to bring either in could drag on with deadline day approaching.
It’s so far been a relatively frustrating month for the Magpies, who are yet to bring anyone in to aid Rafa Benitez’s title charge on Tyneside, though they have recently been linked with moves for the likes of Andros Townsend and Mo Barrow of Crystal Palace and Swansea City respectively.
#nufc still talking to Swansea and Palace about Barrow and Townsend. Not straightforward. This could go to the wire.

While both potential moves seem to have dragged on a while now, Ryder reveals that talks are still in place over the notion of seeing them both arrive at St. James’ Park this month. Wide attacking areas are a little light on the ground for Rafa Benitez right now as he attempts to restore the Magpies to the Premier League, with only Matt Ritchie and Yoan Gouffran currently available.
The idea of seeing them both arrive is hugely exciting and the pair would surely have a huge impact on the Championship title race.
