Perhaps indicative of just how bizarre the January transfer window can be, Newcastle United ‘keeper Tim Krul has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

According to the Guardian, the Blues may consider a move for the Dutchman should they sell Asmir Begovic, despite his stalling career as a result of a knee injury picked up last term. Currently on loan with Ajax, the 28-year-old is struggling in the Dutch capital as it is.

Though he was handed a new deal by the Toon before joining up with the Eredivisie giants for the season, there’s little doubt it would take some doing for Krul to reclaim a starting berth upon his potential return to St. James’ Park.

In light of some of the other areas within Rafa Benitez’s squad, the goalkeeping department is thoroughly stacked and both Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot have impressed when given a run of games.

There’s also the small matter of Matz Sels, who seems to have the Spaniard’s trust in cup games.

With that in mind, here are TWO reasons the Toon should sell Krul if Chelsea come calling.
