Premier League winner reportedly in final negotiations ahead of Newcastle United move

|

If you’re a Newcastle United fan on social media this evening, you’ll know there’s a ridiculous amount of speculation in regards to Andros Townsend, as his potential return to St. James’ Park slowly looks like crumbling into dust.

As depressing as that might be, reports from Bulgaria at least provide a welcome distraction. Despite sounding absolutely ridiculous.

According to Bulgarian outlet GongDimitar Berbatov has flown to Tyneside to complete ‘final negotiations’ with the Toon Army, a side he reportedly supported as a boy. The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving PAOK and was recently mooted for a potential move to St. James’ Park, though it really is hard to see.

With the likes of Dwight Gayle, Daryl Murphy and Aleksandar Mitrovic currently available to Rafa Benitez, the central striking berth is hotly contested and the former Manchester United man hasn’t been playing top level football in almost two years now.

A weird one.
