According to Turkish-football.com, Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has agreed terms over a move to Super Lig side Kayserispor as his time at St. James’ Park winds down.

The Ivory Coast international has been strongly linked with a move away from Tyneside, with just six months left on his current contract, and is said to have reached an agreement with the relegation-threatened outfit.

Nicknamed the Anatolian Stars, Kayserispor and are just one point above the relegation zone in Turkey. Still, the 30-year-old’s agent is believed to have been in the country to discuss a deal despite seeing a move to Galatasaray breakdown over the course of the summer.

Moves to both La Liga side Sporting Gijon and the Chinese Super League have been touted for the former FC Twente man, who joined the Magpies way back in 2010 from the Dutch side. Still, it appears a move to Turkey is on the cards for him, though Rafa Benitez is currently struggling for midfield options at the Championship league leaders.

It’s not clear whether or not a deal will be allowed before Wednesday’s FA Cup clash with Birmingham City, considering the injury crisis Benitez currently has to deal with.
