According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is now considering a move to AZ Alkmaar on loan for the rest of the campaign.

The Dutchman spent the opening half of the season with Ajax, though struggled to get a game with the Eredivisie giants as he recovers from a knee injury which has ruined the last few months of his career and made only a few appearances in their reserve sides.

With the shot-stopping department rather well stocked right now for Rafa Benitez, the 28-year-old had been linked with moves to Chelsea and Watford, though this report claims a temporary switch to the Hornets has fallen at the final hurdle after those in Hertfordshire pulled out following his medical.

That being said, the Oranje is understood to be weighing up a move to the Cheeseheads as he bids to get his career back on track. Interestingly, he was handed a new deal by top brass on Tyneside prior to his departure in the summer, penning a four-year contract to extend his stay in black and white to well over a decade.
