It appears as if Newcastle United pair Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett could well have had the red cards they received against Nottingham Forest last week overturned by the FA, according to Times journalist George Caulkin.
While he stresses that nothing is yet confirmed, he’s been told both Toon stars have seen them rescinded following the dubious marching orders they were given by Stephen Martin in a controversial game at the City Ground.
The Magpies ultimately lost the game 1-2 after letting a lead slip, though both dismissals were widely disputed and Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury invoked the ire of the Toon Army all over social media.
It’s a huge boost as Rafa Benitez’s side look to get back to winning ways against Birmingham City this weekend, particularly if Shelvey is cleared to play.

The 24-year-old has been vital for the Magpies this term and is clearly a cut above the Championship, though faces an FA hearing later this month.
Though it must be stressed nothing is as of yet confirmed, it could be a huge boost for the league leaders.
