Newcastle United make more Championship history after landmark decision

Newcastle United were at least handed some justice following that bizarre loss to Nottingham Forest last Friday by the FA.

Unsurprisingly, both Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett had the red cards shown to them at the City Ground in the 1-2 reversal rescinded, making them available for this weekend’s clash with Birmingham City.

While that’s clearly a bonus, the fact some ridiculous decisions cost the Toon Army three points cannot be rectified and the clash with the Reds gets even stranger.

In fact, it’s only the second time EVER that the FA have made that decision in regards to two red cards in one game.

The only other time that measure has been taken was a Premier League clash between Everton and West Ham back in 2012, meaning this decision is a landmark one in Football League history.

Whether or not Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury will receive anything for his antics on Friday remains to be seen, though Newcastle have made Championship history.
