Former Newcastle United defender Nikos Dabizas has been talking to French outlet So FOOT magazine about THAT Dennis Bergkamp goal.

While the Greek was a popular figure at St. James’ Park and solid in his own right, he’ll always be remembered outside of Tyneside as the man the classy Dutchman turned so easily.

Back in a clash between the Toon and the Gunners in 2002, the Holland international famously flicked the ball around him with a wonderfully deft touch before slotting home past Shay Given.

The pirouette he performed will live long in the memory of the masses and Dabizaz has shared his thoughts on the matter, so long after it happened.

Instead of lamenting his mistake, the Greek has praised Bergkamp for his tremendous skill and insisted he is happy to have been part of such a work of art.

He’s even called Bergkamp a genius with the typical humility that defined his stay at St. James’ Park.

“A lot of people have spoken to me about that game since. They think I’m embarrassed, annoyed… Not at all!’ he said.

”I’m going to tell you: I’m very proud. I was part of a work of art because that move is one, a real work of art. It was done by a genius.”
