The Championship’s top scorer took his tally up to 15 for the season, hitting two within just six minutes of each other before the interval.
He had to wait a while but the former Crystal Palace ace rounded off his day with a well-taken finish late on.
Simply put, it was a vital win for the Magpies as they kept up their first placed position ahead of the chasing Brighton and Hove Albion.
