Newcastle United have been handed a massive transfer boost, according to reports emanating out of Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness.)

Champions League outfit Napoli were recently linked with an £18m move for forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, who despite being a hugely popular figure on Tyneside, has struggled for game time under Rafa Benitez.

One of the biggest teams in Italy, any notion of the Serbian marksman leaving is likely to come as an unwelcome one to the St. James’ Park faithful.

However, the report claims that while I Ciucciarelli are considering the 22-year-old as a potential option, they could focus their attentions on a more experienced striker.

Having recently lost summer signing Arkadiusz Milik to a long-term injury, the Serie A titans are thought to be weighing up other options.

West Ham’s Simone Zaza is believed to be a target, with the Italian international struggling since making a summer move to these shores.
