Ahead of what could be a hugely busy January transfer window on Tyneside, Newcastle United have been handed another major boost over one of their stars.
As reported by Italian outlet Il Mattino (via Sport Witness), Napoli are having serious doubts about making a move for Toon forward Aleksandar Mitrovic due to his lack of experience in Italian football.
Recent reports had linked the popular Serbian forward with an £18m move to the Stadio San Paolo, though this story suggests Maurizio Sarri is wary of launching a bid.
The main reason is said to be that the Gli Azzurri are in desperate need of instant results as their frontline fail to fire in the absence of summer signing Arkadiusz Milik.
Mitrovic has struggled for game time for much of the season, though has been in good form of late and will battle Dwight Gayle for a starting berth as the Magpies plot promotion.
