It’s taken a while for summer signing Christian Atsu to have a real impact at Newcastle United, such is the strength and depth available to Rafa Benitez right now.
The Ghanian arrived late on in the summer window on a loan deal from Chelsea and has had to bide his time indeed, as the likes of Matt Ritchie and Yoan Gouffran impress for the Magpies.
Still, the 24-year-old has proved impressive when called upon, notching his second goal in just three Championship stars for the Toon Army during yesterday’s narrow win over Cardiff City yesterday.
An agreement to sign the man who struggled to even get a game with Bournemouth on a permanent basis is reportedly in place and fans have taken to Twitter to beg the club to do exactly that.
While the former Porto man remains raw at times, he’s looking like a genuine threat in wide areas and someone who could play in black and white in the Premier League should promotion be achieved.
With that in mind, here’s how Twitter’s begged the club.
First bit of summer business Rafa needs to do is sign Atsu on a permanent deal!#NUFC

In my opinion, the first bit of business we should do in January is to sign Christian Atsu on a permanent basis #NUFC
