Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri believes Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side are a Premier League side in waiting, ahead of a meeting between the two later this month.

The Magpies travel to Elland Road on November 20th as two of the division’s form sides look like clashing in Yorkshire in front of a typically packed out stadium.

With the Whites aiming for the Play-Offs after a strong run of form under Garry Monk, the Italian custodian has given his thoughts on the rampant Toon Army.

Benitez’s side are currently three points ahead of their closest challengers in second, though all could have changed by the time two powerhouses of English football meet towards the end of the month.

Still, the 25-year0old has told Italian website gianlucadimarzio.com that he already looks upon the Tyneside titans as a top tier outfit, despite the fact there’s still so much to play for this term.

“As for the cup, however, that has now become very complicated because there are only two teams from the Championship, us and Newcastle – although Benitez’s team is first, and is already a Premier League team in my opinion”, said the Italian (with our quotes sourced from the Evening Chronicle.)

“It will be difficult for us to go through but you never know in football.”
