During what was the busiest transfer window in recent history for Newcastle United, Rafa Benitez’s revolution on Tyneside saw the club linked with pretty much every Championship player.
While a number of deals couldn’t be hauled over the line, the Magpies welcomed 12 players into the squad this summer as much of the deadwood was thrown out.
Players such as Anthony Knockaert and Fernando Forestieri would clearly have had an impact at St. James’ Park, while ambitious moves for the likes of James McCarthy and Michael Carrick would have been nice to see.
Still, the talent drafted in is of immense quality at this level and there are a number of reported targets the club should feel delighted to have missed out on.
All in all, it looks like a hugely successful summer for the Toon Army and these THREE reported summer targets would have been of little use to Rafa Benitez.
