Amazingly, the not-so-dear-departed Moussa Sissoko is coming up rather frequently throughout Newcastle United’s season, just as the good times are returning to Tyneside.
Now struggling at Tottenham Hotspur, the 27-year-old barely covered himself in glory when leaving St. James’ Park in acrimonious circumstances over the course of the summer.
Still, the Frenchman has been talking up his hopes for the Toon Army as they march towards what is hopefully a quick-fire return to the top tier to French outlet Foot Mercato.
As you can well imagine, even the best wishes of a man who sulked all summer haven’t gone down overly well amongst the club’s fan base online.
With oh so much going right under Rafa Benitez right now, the Magpies would rather see the former Toulouse man fade back into the history books, as a dark chapter in the club’s history comes to the most welcome of ends.
So, here’s how Twitter responded.
@ChronicleNUFC why oh why are you still writing about la-sulk? Are we missing our fav player ever? No NUFC fan cared he didn’t about us

#NUFC fans shouldn’t revel in Sissoko’s plight IMO, we got £30m for him, wish him well https://t.co/MMmOa9oRFH

Must be a slow news day in the North East, with the Chronicle again doing an article on an ex-player that no one cares about #sissoko #nufc

@ChrisDHWaugh @EveningChron you may have no regrets leaving newcastle, but spurs definitely regret signing you.

@ChrisDHWaugh @EveningChron if Sissoko speaks about the Toon but nobody cares, does he make a sound?
