Cardiff City are the next team up to try and stop the Newcastle train from rolling tomorrow, with a certain Neil Warnock squaring up against old rival Rafa Benitez.

Though the Magpies’ clash with Bluebirds was once a high-flying Premier League fixture, both have been stooping low of late in a much wider sense.

Still, the winds of the ‘Rafalution’ are picking up on Tyneside and while there are no easy games at this level, the Toon will certainly take some stopping in their current state.

Over the years, the North East giants have largely enjoyed playing their Welsh opposition, losing only 16 of their 52 meetings since April 1922.

In that time, they’ve won 25 games and drawn on a further 13 occasions, though the history books go right out the window when Mr. Warnock comes to town.

While not the biggest fixture in Newcastle’s calendar, it was recently a top-flight fixture and has certainly thrown up some interesting results in the past.

With that in mind, here are FIVE images that sum up Newcastle’s history against Cardiff.
