In stark contrast to last season, there isn’t a single Newcastle player who currently looks as if he hasn’t earned his place in the team this term.

Under Rafa Benitez, the Toon Army is once again marching in harmony as the Magpies look to make a quick-fire return to the Premier League under his stewardship.

Unlike in previous campaigns, the summer signings made by the club actually look to have been well thought out and players who actually improve the ranks, with the capture of Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth cited as a major coup.

The Scotland international is clearly a cut above the Championship and his tireless work up and down the right flank is crucial to the team as a whole, not just his goals or assists.
