Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic believes that Rafa Benitez has two good options to pick from up front after he scored his second double against Preston in the space of five days.

The 22 year old scored two second half goals to seal a 2-1 win for the Magpies at Deepdale, replacing Dwight Gayle in the side after the Newcastle number nine was sidelined with a hamstring injury. When asked by the Shields Gazette whether he was giving the Newcastle boss a difficult decision because of his good form in front of goal, Mitro replied:

“I think it’s easy for him. He has two strikers who are scoring goals and midfielders who are scoring goals. It’s easy for him to choose. I work hard and try to take my chances when it comes. If I’m on the bench, I will try to fight for my place.”

The victory over Preston North End means Newcastle have extended the gap to those outside of the automatic promotion places. Third place Huddersfield Town lost 5-0 to Fulham, giving the Magpies a six point advantage. Brighton & Hove Albion are however still three points behind in second place after they thrashed promotion rivals Norwich City 5-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
