When Everton capitulated against Sunderland way back in May and sent Newcastle United into the Championship, few could imagine what would happen over the next few months in the North East. 

The Magpies’ second relegation of the Mike Ashley era was perhaps the lowest moment in recent history, even worse than the first on that fateful at Villa Park under Alan Shearer.

So, the fact the Toon Amy are currently in a much better place than their bitter old rivals is pretty amazing after an eventful period on both Tyne and Wearside.

With Rafa Benitez at the helm, there’s a bright feeling at St. James’ Park, one not seen in many years at the club.

In fact, a hilarious stat has emerged that sums up the state of affairs between the two.

Despite not having played a Premier League game since the middle of May, Newcastle have STILL won one more recently than Sunderland…
