Lazio midfielder Ravel Morrison could be set for a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to the Sun. The former Manchester United and West Ham was linked with the Magpies in the summer, the paper reports, but a move did not go through.

Morrison has had a string of clubs. After starting at with Manchester United, he moved to West Ham in 2012 with many, including Sir Alex Ferguson, praising the potential of the midfielder.  He was however unable to establish himself with the Hammers and was loaned out to Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City.

He eventually left the London club in 2015 to revitalise his career in Italy with Lazio but the move quickly turned sour. In his first season at the club, he was criticised by Lazio manager Stefano Pioli for his work ethic and his inability to integrate into the team by not learning Italian. Subsequently has has made just 3 league appearances in Serie A and a return to England is on the cards. Whether that will be at Newcastle is uncertain, especially considering the demands that manager Rafa Benitez’s places on his players.
