Newcastle defender Kevin Mbabu says he hopes to return to the Magpies a stronger player after his loan spell in Switzerland. The right back was sent out on loan to Swiss top division side Young Boys at the start of the season:

The 21 year old had a number of injuries whilst on Tyneside and the defender told the Berner Zeitung that he knows he will need to be physically stronger in order to play in England, which an injury free season playing his home country will help with:

“By now I know exactly what it takes. It is important to complete a season without injury.”But that was hopefully just the beginning. I hope to still often play in this league.”

Mbabu played three times in the Premier League under Steve McClaren last season but none under current manager Rafa Benitez as he was sidelined for a large part of the season with a thigh injury. He made his debut at left back against Chelsea in a 2-2 draw last September but only started one more game in the 6-1 loss to Manchester City and was substituted after 53 minutes. He has appeared three times for Young Boys so far this campaign.
