Despite a rocky start to the Championship campaign, the monumental overhaul Rafa Benitez has constructed at Newcastle United has brought a fresh sense of optimism to the club. 

For long-suffering Toon fans, it is refreshing to see the club operated at a thoroughly professional level for the first time in years. And years.

Not only have the Magpies made money, but our loveable Spanish coach has welcomed a number of top players through the door at St. James’ Park.

What is abundantly clear, is the fact Benitez is creating a squad that is capable of dealing with the Championship.

This group of players may not be of the Premier League quality that the fans expect, but that is not the point. It should be good enough to get us to the proverbial Promised Land once again.

Hopefully anyway.

Big money signings such as Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie will grab most of the headlines, though some of the so-called ‘smaller names’ will be tasked with deciding the fate of Newcastle United.
