West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Newcastle left back Paul Dummett, according to the Evening Chronicle. The Premier League outfit had scouts at the match between the Magpies and Reading on Wednesday night.

It is believed that Baggies manager Tony Pulis is keen on bringing in a left sided defender before the end of the transfer window and has targeted Dummett as a possible option. West Brom may have rivals for Dummett’s signature however as Burnley have also made their interest known to the Magpies after making an enquiry for the Welsh international earlier in the simmer.

Dummett was named as captain in the 4-1 win over Reading as club captain Jamaal Lascelles was replaced by Ciaran Clark  in the starting line up for the match by Rafa Benitez, and it is believed that the Magpies would be reluctant to lose him. Although Newcastle are looking to bring in Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton, Newcastle would still be short of cover in the position with Massadio Haidara still recovering full fitness after a serious knee injury. New signing Jesus Gamez could however be another option to fill in at left back if Benitez decides to cash in on Dummett.
