Newcastle United could have their next signing finalised in the “next 48 hours” according to Miles Starforth of the Shields Gazette. It has been reported by Sky Sports that the Magpies have triggered Hull City’s Mohamed Diame’s £4.5million release clause and that the move could be completed pretty swiftly.

The Senegalese international only has one year left on his contract at the KC stadium, and it is believed that he is keen on signing for Newcastle. With the release clause triggered and the midfielder keen on making the move, there is nothing stopping a swift conclusion to the transfer.

The 29 year old scored 10 goals, and provided 4 assists in 41 Championship matches last season and could be the ideal replacement for Moussa Sissoko who looks set to leave the club. The French international returned from holiday to start preseason training yesterday but manager Rafa Benitez has stated the right offer has not been put on the table for the 26 year old yet.
