Sources close to Real Madrid have told OK Diario that the club is not interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko this summer.

It is believed that manager Zinedine Zidane is satisfied with the cover he has in central midfield areas and that agents and representatives are using Real’s rumoured interest in the French international to push up the player’s price in the transfer market. A source is quoted as saying:

“There has been no contact with Newcastle or Sissoko or their agents.[The rumours] are part of the usual set of representatives , who want to use the Real Madrid to raise the price of a footballer.”

Whether this is simply deflection on the part of Real is not certain. Sissoko’s asking price has certainly risen since the 26 year old starred in the European Championship final defeat to Portugal with £35million now being quoted as an acceptable fee for the midfielder.

Madrid do currently have Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Casemiro and rising talent Marco Asensio who can all play in central midfield positions so it may be the case that they don’t believe Sissoko would be needed.
