Newcastle are close to announcing their ninth signing of the summer with the capture of Brendan Galloway from Everton on a season long loan, according to the Shields Gazette.
The 20 year old played 19 games in all competitions for the Toffees last season under Roberto Martinez but new manager Ronald Koeman is prepared to allow the former MK Dons player to leave on a temporary basis this campaign. Any loan deal won’t come cheap though as the Gazette believe Everton are demanding a seven figure loan fee for Galloway.
Rafa Benitez is looking to strengthen his defence but the signing of Galloway would certainly see competition for the left back position with Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara all fighting for one place in the side.
Once the signing of Galloway is completed, Newcastle are expected to continue spending in the transfer market with a striker and a winger both next on the wishlist.
