Juventus have revived their interest in Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Northern Echo. The Serie A champions were interested in the Dutch international international two years ago but baulked at the transfer fee that the Magpies were demanding for the player at the time.

Krul is still recovering from a knee injury he picked up back in October but there has been speculation about his future since he was left out of the preseason tour of Ireland despite Rob Elliot, who is also injured, being included in the squad.

Rafa Benitez currently has four first team goalkeepers at his disposal with Matz Sels currently holding onto the number one jersey with Karl Darlow and Elliott also competing with Krul.

The Northern Echo believe the 28 year old could be a replacement for 38 year old Gianluigi Buffon although the Italian international’s form has not dipped despite his age, and it would more likely be the case that Krul would be Buffon’s deputy if he moved to Turin.
