Ligue One clubs have showed interest in signing left back Massadio Haidara, according to the Evening Chronicle. The Frenchman has not featured under Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez after picking up a knee injury early last season, and the impending arrival of Brendan Galloway from Everton on loan suggests the 23 year old’s time on Tyneside is up after the Frenchman failed to play a single minute in preseason.

Paul Dummett has begun as first choice this season, having started the club’s first league match in the Championship in the 1-0 defeat to Fulham last Friday night but Galloway’s arrival will no doubt provide strong competition for Dummett.

The former MK Dons player made 19 appearances in Everton’s first team last season, and his signing would suggest that Haidara’s services are no longer required. So far though, no bids have been made for the Frenchman as we head into the final weeks of the transfer window.
