Newcastle right back Daryl Janmaat has committed to giving everything to the Magpies as they attempt to return to the top flight of English football at the first attempt.

The Dutch international’s future at the club has been placed in question after Rafa Benitez brought in right back Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid as one his eight summer signings. Janmaat put an end to any speculation however by telling the Shields Gazette that he is enjoying the positive atmosphere under Benitez and he will give his all for the club:

“I think it’s really positive. Everybody is happy at the club. That’s good. We need positivity. It’s a new start now, and we have to make sure we do our jobs… We’re looking forward now. I will give everything for Newcastle.”

Winger Florian Thauvin became the seventh player to depart the club this summer after he agreed a second loan back to his previous club Marseille. It is believed however that this new loan agreement has a purchase clause which requires the French club to buy the player at the end of the season. It will mean that the Frenchman’s troubled stay at St James’ Park has effectively come to an end after just one year at the club.
