PSV Eindhoven are keen on bringing in Newcastle midfielder Siem De Jong on loan, according to the Dutch Newspaper De Telegraaf but they are waiting on Newcastle to make a decision on the 27 year old’s future.

The former Ajax player is still recovering from a hamstring injury picked up in preseason and looks to be a week away from full fitness. Magpies boss Rafa Benitez commented yesterday that although he acknowledges De Jong’s quality, there are currently too many players in the Newcastle squad suggesting he would allow him to leave St James’ Park.

PSV are believed to be looking for an attacking midfielder that fits De Jong’s description but they are aware they don’t offer the most attractive financial package for a season long loan and anticipate that other clubs may make a move for the Dutchman. With De Jong’s brother Luuk already at the club though, the Eredivisie champions are hopeful of landing the player before the end of the transfer window.
