Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin’s move to Marseille should be finalised “by the end of the week” according to the Evening Chronicle. The 23 year old’s future has been speculated on all summer and it looks like finally his next destination has been settled.

French newspaper L’Equipe have reported that the Ligue One side have offered to take the Frenchman on loan with a purchase option of €11million or £9million. This is lower than what Lazio have offered, a €12.5million purchase at the end of a season long loan, but the publication believe Thauvin’s desire to move back to France is proving the decisive factor.

Although the winger has been included in Rafa Benitez’s preseason plans and is said to have impressed the Spaniard, Thauvin never settled on Tyneside and lasted only 6 months before rejoining Marseille in his first loan spell last season. Now it looks likely that he will return to France for good.
