Spanish newspaper AS believe that Barcelona made first contact with Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez back in March to see if the Spaniard would be interested in a move back to Spain.
Barca are currently looking for a striker with Perez, Luciano Vietto and Carlo Bacca among their list of candidates. They are seeking someone who is content to be backup to the front three of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, and it seems like the Catalan club believe the Magpies forward could be the best fit.
AS think the Spaniard could be available for €18million or £15million which would be much cheaper than Bacca, who is also interesting Paris Saint-Germain, and is slightly cheaper Vietto who struggled for form at Atletico Madrid last season. The La Liga champions are said to have been tracking Perez even before he signed for Newcastle from Tenerife for £1.8million in 2014 and are now likely to firm up their interest in Perez as they rule out other options such as Atletico’s Angel Correa and Sevilla’s Kevin Gameiro.
