Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko is a target for Real Madrid, according to the Spanish newspaper Sport. Real boss Zinedine Zidane has all but given up on signing Sissoko’s France team mate Paul Pogba from Juventus, and the France legend looks to have recommended Sissoko as an alternative to Madrid president Florentino Perez, Sport believes.
A major obstacle to any transfer will be Perez’s poor relationship with Magpies manager Rafa Benitez who he sacked after six months at the Bernabeu, replacing him with Zidane.
Sissoko could also be a target for Juventus, according to the Northern Echo. If Paul Pogba does depart for Manchester United in a world record deal this summer, the Newcastle midfielder may well be the Old Lady’s preferred replacement. If Pogba does stay at Juve, Manchester United could then turn to Sissoko as their alternative target. So it looks as though Sissoko’s future could be inextricably linked to Pogba.
