Newcastle United will agree to let winger Florian Thauvin leave St James’ Park on loan if a purchase option of €11million (£9.5m) is put in place, according to L’Equipe.

There were confused reports yesterday with the Northern Echo reported that a loan deal with Lazio for Thauvin was close to being agreed but Sky Sports then reported that the Magpies had rejected a bid from the Italian club for the 23 year old.

It looks likely that the disagreement was down to the size of the purchase option within the loan deal, but the French newspaper L’Equipe believe Lazio and Newcastle will come to an agreement if the Serie A side offer €11million at the end of the season long loan.

The winger has been linked with a move back to Marseille for a second loan spell but it is believed the French club can’t afford any purchase option for the loan. Thauvin joined from Marseille last year for £15million.
