The Northern Echo are reporting that Watford are “weighing up” whether to meet Newcastle’s £10million valuation for full back Daryl Janmaat.
The Dutch international was linked with the Hornets last week, and speculation about the 26 year old has increased since the arrival of Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid.
Janmaat has been on the club’s preseason tour of Ireland, and played the second half in the 6-0 win over Bohemians FC. Whether he will be at the club once the season is underway is not certain and Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has made it clear that he will listen to offers for any players if the right bid comes in.
Much will now depend whether Watford or any other clubs want to match the valuation set by Newcastle. Janmaat joined from Feyenoord two years ago in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £5million. He has made 69 league appearances since joining the Magpies.
