Newcastle United and Fulham are both interested in signing Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy, according to the Irish Sun. The Republic of Ireland international is believed to be a target for Rafa Benitez as he looks to shore up his goal scoring options after the sale of Georginio Wijnaldum to Liverpool.

Fulham meanwhile are said to be anticipating the sale of Ross McCormack with their interest in Murphy. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are bracing themselves for bids for their prolific striker who scored 23 goals in all competitions. The Mirror believes that Newcastle are also interested in McCormack, and are lining up a £13million bud, with Norwich City and Aston Villa both looking to beat the Magpies to the Scottish international’ ssignature.

Most likely the Magpies will bid for Murphy if they lose out on McCormack. The Irishman has scored 50 goals in the last three seasons in the Championship but in 23 caps for Ireland so far, he has yet to hit the back of the net.
