Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has said Newcastle should meet their asking price for club captain Grant Hanley if they are serious about buying the centre back.

The Irishman believes the Magpies should not be stalling on upping their £4.5million bid for the 24 year old if they are holding out for £35million for France midfielder Moussa Sissoko. He is quoted by the Evening Chronicle as saying:

“For me, that is nowhere near the valuation of Grant Hanley. We don’t want to lose him, we’re not trying to sell him and nobody here is saying ‘bring me bids.’ I can’t stop other clubs from admiring our players because I do it with other clubs myself.”

“I’ve seen the other day I think Newcastle were at £35m for Moussa Sissoko, and he is an outstanding player, but please don’t then offer me £4.5m for Grant.”

Blackburn’s owners Venkys are notorious for sticking to their asking prices when selling their best players. They rejected numerous offers from Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes before eventually allowing the player for a fee in excess of £9million. £6m is believed to be the fee which Rovers are looking for Hanley, and it may well be the case that Newcastle will have to match it if they want the centre half this summer. With the departures of Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini this summer, Rafa Benitez is looking for some much needed experience in the centre of defence.
