Sky Sports are reporting to Newcastle have rejected a bid from Lazio for their winger Florian Thauvin. It is believed that the offer was way short of what the Magpies are demanding for the player.
However Scott Wilson of the Northern Echo reported this morning that the Italian club are only interested in signing the Frenchman on a season long loan deal. The report states that the loan move is “close” to being finalised.
“Sky Sources” are notoriously unreliable so it may be best to trust the Northern Echo report which could have a source closer to the club, but there could also be another possibility. It has been reported that Newcastle don’t want the player to leave on loan again unless there is an obligation for the club to buy the winger at the end of the loan spell. It could be that the two clubs are disagreeing on the amount Lazio will pay to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan period.
