Watford are interested in signing Newcastle right back Daryl Janmaat, according to the Sunday People. The Dutch international’s time at St James Park seems to be up after the club confirmed the signing of full back Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid.
Gamez’s signing from Atletico was confirmed on Friday and the 31 year old has put pen to paper on a two year deal to become Rafa Benitez’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window. The Spaniard played 16 games for the Champions League finalists last season and will give the Magpies solidity at the back whilst also providing flexibility with the full back able to play on the left as well as the right hand side of defence.
Janmaat will be allowed to leave St James Park if Rafa Benitez is able to add more defensive signings, the People reports, and it remains to be seen whether Watford or any other club will make a bid for the the 26 year old that will match Newcastle’s valuation.
