Newcastle and Watford are interested in signing Anderlecht winger Frank Acheampong, according to Africa Top Sports. The website says that the two English clubs “carefully follow” the Ghanaian international’s progress.
The 22 year old can play as a winger, wing back or forward, and has also interested Ligue One side Marseille in recent times. Acheampong’s agent Olivier Konig has however told African Top Sports that there are currently no offers on the table and the player is contracted to his side for another three years:
“Frank is very happy at Anderlecht and has a contract until 2019. So there is still nothing concrete at the moment.”
Jordon Ibe was also believed to be interesting the Magpies, according to the Evening Chronicle, but after completing a medical with Bournemouth, he is expected to join the Cherries soon in a £15million deal. Whether the Magpies look to other targets to shore up their options on the wing is unclear but it is believed that Rafa Benitez is looking for cover in central defence, in central midfielder and up front.
