Tottenham bail out Mike Ashley with £5 million deal

Dele AlliMike Ashley would have been getting worried there for a little while as it looked as though Newcastle might actually spend £5 million on MK Dons starlet Dele Alli, but luckily for him Tottenham Hotspur, a club with some ambition, have bailed him out and beaten him to it.

The signing of Alli for Tottenham is being reported in various news outlets, just a week after it looked as though Newcastle were in pole position for the young midfielder.

However, alarm bells started to ring when Aston Villa were reportedly looking to hijack the deal and with Newcastle seemingly dallying over the deal, Spurs have swooped in.

This little bit of transfer inactivity sums up Newcastle in a nutshell, on a day when they’ve let Davide Santon return to Inter Milan against the player’s will.

The fact that Newcastle were looking to sign a relatively unproven 18-year-old who has only showed his worth in League One illustrates how Ashley wants to invest in players who he can sell at a later date for a higher price.

Let’s face it, even if Alli had signed for Newcastle, within four years he’d have been off to bigger and better things, but at least we’d have been able to enjoy his talent for a bit and Ashley would likely have had a profit down the line.

As it is, we’ve missed out on one of England’s brightest talents and expect him to make a Harry Kane like impact on the Premier League in the very near future.

Ashley has no ambition because he is frightened Newcastle might win a trophy and then he would have to buy some silver polish and a duster.

As a Spurs fan, I object to the notion that we are a club of ambition! As you say later on, if Cashley signed him, he’d be off to a bigger and better club in a few years, but what do you think Levy wants him? £5m now, flog him to United or Madrid in five years for £30m. It’s the way of football sadly, lots of clubs with a history serving as feeders for the big boys and the new money clubs. Good luck Magpies!

SPURS have ambition? We`ve made a net PROFIT the last THREE windows in a row! Newcastle have spent more money than we have by FAR. Wow, some people are so stupid. Spurs have made a £5M profit this window, and have no money. Lolz.

Levy certainly has no ambition all he has is £ signs before his eyes. Going to cost us champions league football again just like last season. LEVY OUT !!!

  • Rico says:

    • tricky says:

money is coming from the Fans its not coming out of his pocket wtf unless your a stockholder as long as levy is in charge we will never be any good stock holders first then the players then us the Muppets who pay for most of it.

Why should a club have to show a net loss to indicate ambition? Bizarre. No wonder so much of Britain is up the creek. From my viewpoint, Spurs trying to have a larger stadium, improve training facilities, developing players is ambition for the long term. There are only 2 other alternatives: throw cash at it in a vain attempt to match Man City and Chelsea but will fail or throw cash at it QPR style for hopeful short term success but possible long term extinction.

Good luck to those of you who shown the necessary PERSONAL ambition and have debts up to your ears. Enjoy!
