This player should NEVER wear a Newcastle shirt again

Gabriel ObertanNewcastle United fell to a 3-0 defeat to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium tonight to end their four-match winning streak and while the Magpies didn’t actually play that bad, one player who should never wear a Newcastle shirt again is Gabriel Obertan.

There have got to be few players as bad as Obertan that have played for Newcastle over the years.

The 24-year-old may be able to run fast but that’s about all he can do, he can’t even take the ball with him!

The Frenchman was brought on for Shola Ameobi against Swansea and was put through by Moussa Sissoko in a Newcastle counter-attack, only for Obertan to leave the ball behind and fluff the chance.

Signed back in 2011 for £3 million, which has turned out to be a complete waste of money, Obertan has scored just once and played less than 50 Premier League matches.

He’s a complete waste of a spot on the bench and I’d much rather see Sammy Ameobi given game time ahead of him as the youngster actually has a chance of becoming a decent player.

Obertan has no chance at all. He never has been a good player and never will be and the ex-Manchester United flop should never wear a Newcastle shirt again!

    Harsh!!!!!!!

  • Goober says:

The pass was behind him, and he did well to preserve the attack and get off a centering pass which no one was there to meet.

Tripped over the ball and with a lever trick left the full back for dead to place the ball firmly at the feet of another defender……….. this bloke is not even good enough for the championship

Harsh very harsh and inaccurate as with a touch of confidence Obertan is another Bale in the waiting.

    Mark my words

What none sense you must never go to games he destroyed Bordeaux with Shola in Europa League last yr. he is young and by all accounts a shy person so slagging him off on matches days is not going to improve him. We have too many knockers at this club and I’m an older fan who remembers that you support and encourage players who are struggling to find form. Look at Debuchy early this season he was garbage now look at him.

unfortunately its 50 games in and one goal…season ticket holder here with a few braincells and yes i was at the Bordeaux game where he played a blinder…49/1

Not sure what game you were watching but I was there and we were terrible!

We couldn’t keep hold of the football for more than about 4 passes before either losing it or knocking it long. Swansea were a far better side than us and they didn’t have a striker on the pitch for most of the game. Pardew needs to take a good look at how they play the game.

No…the club need to take a look at how Pardew thinks football should be played and then act appropriately
