Danny IngsLiverpool are set to test Burnley’s resolve in January by tabling a bid for their star striker Danny Ings and as a result provide the stiffest competition for Newcastle United in their pursuit of the youngster.

Danny Ings is one of English football’s hottest prospects right now as the Burnley striker is making a huge impression in the Championship.

Although Burnley haven’t won in their last five Championship matches, Ings has helped them to third position in the table and in with a real chance of promotion.

The England U21 international has scored 11 times in the second tier of English football, with 15 goals in all competitions in the 2013/14 season to date.

Newcastle have been looking at Ings for a while and can’t fail to have been impressed by his form, his progression as a footballer and his eye for a goal.

His performances have drawn Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ eye and with Daniel Sturridge out for a number of weeks, Ings is on the Reds’ radar.

Newcastle and Liverpool aren’t alone in their pursuit of the 21-year-old though, as Aston Villa, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are also monitoring Ings according to the Daily Express.

With Jay Rodriguez making a big impact at Southampton, expect Danny Ings to do something similar in the Premier League very soon.

Hopefully it will be with Newcastle!
