Newcastle United v Hull City - Premier LeagueIf you were watching the Premier League match at St James’ Park yesterday between Newcastle United and Hull City, you’d have noticed the return of Newcastle Director of Football Joe Kinnear, just in time to see the Magpies lose 3-2 at home.

Once again Newcastle showed they are desperately short of a striker (while they were also sloppy at the back, but that’s another matter) and Kinnear finally had his say on the summer’s activity in the programme notes before the match.

He said: “It was very frustrating that we did not add at least another signing to the squad in the recent window, but it was not for lack of effort. It was not an easy task to improve the quality of the current squad with the financial resources at our disposal, particularly in a window in which the value of players was grossly over-inflated and the demands of agents likewise.”

He continued: “I worked very hard on several targets and we made a number of bids for players, but for various reasons – some of which were outside the club’s control – we were unable to secure our targets. We will continue to operate in a financially responsible manner, buying only the right players for the right prices and not paying over the odds or making costly knee-jerk decisions.”

Joe’s final words were: “This is the reality of a well-run football club that lives within its means. When the deal is right and the player can add real quality and depth to the squad, we have the ability to spend,” so maybe there will be some moves in January.

However, as the picture below shoes, Kinnear has no clue at all…

Joe Kinnear stupid

You might want to check the person you’re having a photo with isn’t wearing a ‘Mike Ashley Out Campaign’ t-shirt next time Joe.

From Cashleys viewpoint he may want to consider only letting Joe “out and about” under strict supervision with a very short lease. The man does not seem to know what day of the week it is when he is caught out like this.
Under different circs. I might have felt a tad sorry for poor Joe, but I dont as he is obviously a willing lackey of Cashley – he therefore will get whats coming to him at every opportunity.

What was that , that Joe Kinnear said? I think he said he had worked very hard to secure new players, and apparently he then asked Gomis to take less money to come to Newcastle. I wonder whether he gets a back hander from Ashley for not spending his money
