Everton wipe the floor with Newcastle

Romelu LukakuNewcastle United did pretty much worse than every other Premier League club in the transfer window, as they failed to bring in anyone on deadline day, but if there’s one club in particular that showed Newcastle how it’s done, then it’s Everton.

Throughout the window Newcastle and Everton were linked with similar players, namely former Wigan midfielder James McCarthy and Blackpool’s exciting winger Tom Ince.

Everton brought the former in yesterday as a £13 million replacement for the outgoing Marouane Fellaini, which is fair enough as Newcastle were only interested in McCarthy if Yohan Cabaye went to Arsenal.

However, the one transfer that really wrangles with me and many other Newcastle fans is that of Romelu Lukaku, as Everton picked up the Belgian striker from Chelsea in a season-long long deal.

Now, I wouldn’t have minded if Lukaku had chosen West Brom over Newcastle as he has an affinity for the club having performed so well there last season, but I think we could have matched what Everton had to offer, so why weren’t we even interested?

We were reportedly interested in bringing Demba Ba back to the club on loan, so why, when Chelsea decided that they’d let Lukaku leave on loan again and not Ba, didn’t Newcastle turn their attention to the big Belgian?

Your guess is as good as mine, but fair play to Everton, Lukaku will bang in the goals for Everton and Newcastle fans on Tyneside will be wondering what the **** Joe Kinnear was up to…

lol he wouldn’t have gone to newcastle over everton anyway, ur in major decline all starting by giving that muppet pardew an 8 year deal.

  • Bill Kenwright says:

    Because I paid Chelsea a £5m loan fee – that’s why

Cabaye or mcarthy???? Id know who i would rarther have. And for lukaku? Remy will shine over him regarding he isnt in jail.

‘he wouldn’t have gone to newcastle over everton anyway, ur in major decline’

Everton are in decline under Martinez! It’s goodbye to the stability they enjoyed.

  • moosh says:

I think Chelsea were probably looking to see where he would develop most, that partly being where he got the games.

Hard to see him start ahead of Cisse and Remy if both fit whether the fans think he should or not.

    • Pablobrown says:

Behave Lukaku is far better than Cisse and Remy. Cisse was crap last season, and Remy was decent nothing else. Why would Lukaku go to a team who were fighting relagation the season before.

Too much time playing FIFA manager and fantasy football methinks.
You don’t actually win any EPL points for doing well in the window you know.
Anyhow what do you define as “well” , you probably thought Michael Owen was a good
    signing !!!
Reading between the lines in AP’s official NUFC statement there must have been some
silly prices being asked , I mean , we asked 20/25 million for Cabaye ffs .
Mesut Ozil to the Arseholes for 42.4 million pounds ,what a larf, he will struggle in the prem for sure.

Strange that the first comment is from a Mark Pembridge.
Mark is part of the coaching staff at Fulham.
You know , Fulham , the side that left Tyneside with zilch points last Saturday evening.

  • BeaSmith says:

Of course he would’ve come to Newcastle over Everton. It’s pathetic arguing otherwise, they haven’t even won a game yet. A wooden Bradford waiting to happen hovel with 8000 empty seats most weeks, or one of the best grounds in Europe which is generally full. With one more striker Newcastle are not that far away from being decent, pathetic that no bid came in.

    • rope8781 says:

Bless you! Think you need to take those black and white tinted glasses off soft lad.

    • Carl says:

Only 8000 empty seats is when Newcastle “fans” turn up on 2 coaches.

    • Pablobrown says:

Your an idiot Bea if you think Newcastle are a bigger draw than Newcastle. Everton are the 4th most successful club in England, have Newcastle actually won anything? I can guarantee, that if both clubs offered the same money for a player, then the player would choose Everton.

  • Shoeless joe says:

BeaSmith – not far away from being decent – Ha Ha – points like Nelson. That stadium will keep you in the champs league places in the delusion league

  • Sweepyen says:

Deluded Geordies chattin it yet again

  • Joe Kinnair says:

Pardew was right when he said Newcastle are operating in a different league to Everton – just not in the way he meant.

  • Darren says:

Good article, Lukaku was a class Loan signing, also I think it’s fair to say that Everton are a much better team than NUFC but some of the slagging on this is just stupid, NUFC have a lot of potential and a few Top players in Cisse, Cabaye, Krul and Ben Arfa, Hope NUFC do the double over our Loveable neighbours – COYB !

  • Steve Cunningham says:

Newcastle fans crack me up. Yes there’s no doubt St James Sports Direct stadium is head and shoulders above Goodison but our old lady can match anybody’s in a midweek night match with 40,000 packed in. Also as was said earlier Everton 4th most successful team in England. The last time Newcastle won the 1st Div Britain was still trying to get over the 1st world war 8 years earlier.

  • Johnnyblueboy says:

The problem is Newcastle fans are in there own little world always have been they really think they are one of the biggest clubs in the land and you talk about Goodison park The old Lady may be past its sell by date but its still one of the toughest and loudest grounds in europe just listen to Wenger he said Goodison is the toughest ground to play at in midweek the crowd are on top of you and you can feel the venom or muamba who said he hated playing at goodison because you new if you went a goal down you had next to no chance of getting anything out the game because the crowd make it so hard for the away team and you talk about 8000 empty seats hahaha isnt your average down about 6000 so keep ya mouth shut kid

  • Rich says:

    The barcode circus continues:)

  • Blue boy says:

Newcastle are the team that just keep giving and giving. I feel sorry for the 12,000 core fans from when I was growing up in the 80’s who have witnessed the comedy that is NUFC.
