The Daily Star is today reporting that Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Ham, Cardiff City and two other Premier League clubs are all interested in signing Ipswich Town left back Aaron Cresswell.
23-year-old Aaron Cresswell is a bright young prospect who has been quietly going about his business in the Championship at Portman Road.
Signed by Ipswich from Tranmere Rovers in 2011, Cresswell won the Supporters’ Player of the Year Award in his first season before going on to play every minute for the Tractor Boys in their 2012/13 Championship campaign.
With six Premier League clubs after the 5ft 7in fullback, there is no secret about his talent, but Cresswell may well think it’s time for him to test himself at a higher level.
However, Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy is understandably keen to keep hold of his young left back and rates him very highly.
In regards to bids, McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk: “I’ve heard nothing – only that people keep telling me it’s in the papers. I keep hearing Crystal Palace are interested in him and that doesn’t surprise me at all.”
He continued: “He’s the best left-back in the league. I’m not touting him around trying to sell him, by the way. But he’s been excellent. Am I fearing losing Cressy? No. I certainly don’t want to. I can’t give him any higher praise.”
Watch up for a bid from at least one Premier League club before the window shuts…
Wow another midget for our flanks
Why would they want another left back? It is just the P R at Newcastle kidding the fans that they mean business. And pigs might fly.
Cant see why AVFC would still be pursuing Cresswell. We have Tony Moon currently looking very much the part, with Joe Bennett available as a back up. We look well set in the left full back department.
Exactly
