Queens Park Rangers have stolen a march on Newcastle United in the race to sign Marseille and France striker Loic Remy in the January transfer window, as QPR manager Harry Redknapp was in the Director’s Box for today’s French Cup match with Guingamp.

It is no secret that both QPR and Newcastle are heavily interested in Remy, with Redknapp keen to sign the Frenchman previously when he was in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

Both teams are in the midst of a Premier League relegation battle this season, and while Newcastle may have the points’ advantage now, Remy could help give QPR a boost until the end of the season.

French journalist Mathieu Grégoire reported the news today and while Marseille President Vincent Labrune, who was in London earlier this week, insisted that it didn’t mean that Remy will necessarily sign for QPR, there isn’t anything else that himself and Redknapp will be talking about.

It is looking increasingly likely that Loic Remy will move English football this month, but which Premier League club will snap him up? It appears that QPR are in the box seat right now…
