Chelsea are being linked with a summer move for Newcastle United’s Hatem Ben Arfa, but the Blues must be mad if they think his value is on a par with the outgoing Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge is reportedly on his way to Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window, with a £12 million move being mooted.

The 23-year-old forward has struggled at Stamford Bridge since his move from Manchester City and hasn’t even got a look-in with interim manager Rafa Benitez.

The Blues are so keen to get rid of him that it’s even being rumoured that they’re willing to give Sturridge £1.5m of the deal in order to ensure he leaves, while City are also due a small payment.

However, while Chelsea are happy to ship out their players, they should bear in mind that other clubs won’t be as willing when it comes to selling their players.

Yesterday the Sun was reporting that Chelsea are looking to buy Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa for £12m in six months’ time, but this would value him alongside Sturridge – a striker they can’t wait to get rid of, so they must be mad!

There is no way that Newcastle would sell Ben Arfa for a fee anywhere near that region as his creativity is so important for the Magpies, as has been shown by his recent loss from the team through injury.

The 25-year-old must be worth a fee around his age and you can bet that Derek Llambias and co. won’t be selling the Frenchman to Chelsea for peanuts.
